WELCOME TO THE SPRING EDITION OF OUR NEWSLETTER
SHOOTING INSTRUCTION
The shooting ground is knee deep in empty cartridges, due to the amount of lessons this season. Both Peter and Justin have had a very enjoyable but busy year, spending many hours on site teaching.
Surprisingly we have not only seen an increase in 'On The Peg Tuition' for individual clients, but also for supplying instructors to cover a whole team of guns (i.e. we float between the guns and help each one as necessary).
So we don't just offer individual lessons, we can also cater for groups (with a maximum of 5 clients per instructor), with the emphasise on teaching you how to shoot properly, not just rushing you through. Already since the season has ended, we have had a few groups with client ages ranging from 9 to 70 !!
Plus there is a new addition of a 'Log Pod' at the ground, which will become the new office and waiting area. There are also plans to change the traps and increase the variety ready for the spring.
Remember : Our shooting ground is open all year around !!

FREEDOM FENCE
'Freedom Fence' is a radio frequency pet containment system (not an electric fence) designed to keep your Dog or Cat safely inside your property, reducing the risk of injury, while having the full run of your property. A wire is run around your boundary and the pet wears a collar, which give a loud beeping noise first and then a change of pitch and the static correction. The system can cover from 100 metres to 100 acres.
Justin is the local agent and professional installer for 'Freedom Fence', covering the area from Southampton to Taunton and up to Amesbury.
For more information, please visit the website - www.freedomfence.co.uk and/or contact Justin directly on 01258 452307 / 07973 642278.
Canine Bowen Therapy
Does your dog suffer from aches, pains, chronic illness or behavioural issues? ........ Bowen could help!
A bit about Bowen ..... The Canine Bowen Technique is based on the principles of The Bowen Technique developed by Tom Bowen (1916 - 1982). It's adaptation in the UK was started in 2001 by Bowen therapists Sally and Ron Askew, who integrated it into their own dog behavioural and rehabilitation work. In 2003 they founded the European Guild of Canine Bowen Therapists.
Bowen therapy is a light touch holistic therapy that promotes healing, pain relief and general body rebalancing and aims to support and boost the natural healing capabilities of the body. Rolling moves are made over precise points on the body and are performed in a slow and controlled way to subtly disturb the underlying muscles and soft tissue.
Often 1 to 2 treatments at weekly intervals are all that is required to achieve a noticeable change. Some dogs, especially the elderly, those with chronic conditions or active working dogs may also benefit from regular maintenance treatments.
Why not treat your four-legged friend?

FISHING DEPARTMENT
We buy and sell second-hand fishing equipment (sea, game and coarse) depending on condition. Plus we are always interested in antique rods and reels, as two of our staff are big collectors.
We are always worth a phone call or email, as we might have the reel you are looking for in the second hand or antique department. We service reels and fix rods, re-wiping new eyes from single broken ones to whole rod repairs.
Local Advice
Bryan is our resident fishing expert and spends a lot of time fishing on the Stour, plus on many of the surrounding rivers and lakes. He is also a keen sea match fisherman. He is always on hand for local advice and might even let you know where the big ones are! We can recommend a number of local trout lakes/rivers, especially one where only a few weeks ago a 22lb trout was caught.
Equipment
We stock a range of equipment from major fishing companies covering the sea, coarse, and game fishing:
Shakespeare: Sea/coarse fishing rods and reels from budget kits to their top of their range.
Spinners and plugs, luggage nets and terminal tackle.
Drennan: Sea and Coarse rods, fishing hooks, Barbed, whisker barb and barbless, their range of floats, and the E.S.P range including the pike terminal tackle.
Bait Available
We have a large range of fishing baits from fishmeal to boilies, and hooker pellets to maggot and worm. We also stock S.A.S frozen baits for dead baiting and for sea fishing.
GUN STORAGE/VALUATION
We offer a storage service for your guns, for example if you are moving house, or if your licence has run out. We charge £2.50 per gun per week, plus while they are here we can service them at the same time. The service includes pickup and delivery of the guns, plus we can deal with the paperwork if the guns have been found (it does happen) or inherited (i.e. you don't have a licence to keep them).
We can also give you a formal valuation for any guns, due to insurance claims or probate matters, either here in the shop or at your home.
END OF SEASON GUN 'MOT'
Why not book your gun in now to get it checked over and serviced, rather than leaving it until the beginning of next season. We do see a lot of guns at the start of the new season in September that have been broken since the end of January!!
Please phone us for our prices on servicing, strip and cleans, plus full rejoints / rebuilds / reblueing of barrels.
Remember, we don't just service and fix shotguns, we can also do all types of rifle / air rifle and pistol. We have a huge array of spare parts, plus the majority of the work is still done on site in our traditional (messy) workshop, except for the blueing/browning which gets sent to a professional that has done Conyers barrels for over 30 years. So we can guarantee it will be a top class job.
This season, we even managed to get some of our client's guns fixed over night (i.e. we picked up the gun after their days shooting and then returned it to them the following morning ready to be used again). So it's always worth giving Justin a ring (even out of hours), as we will always try to help and/or lend you a gun.

Shop Refurb!
We are concentrating on the finer parts of our business, as well as Shooting Tuition at our shooting ground and On the peg Tuition, and our Freedom Fence work, we have refurbed the shop, and are currently working on the work shop getting it ready for the arrival of our new full time gunsmith in the new year, so exciting time for Conyers Gunsmiths.
After over 100 years of trading Conyers of Blandford has had a change around in the shop, utalising the space and showing of the fantastic cabinets to their full potential. While trying to stock all accessories and clothing for shooting, fishing, dog training, camping, country clothing, we still maintain our ethos of local expertise and advice.
